"Remember, the enemy gate is down."

Production notes: A pic I did based on the novel "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card written in the late seventies that may have influenced a LOT of anime imagery. The officers in the background are Rackham, Graff, and Anderson. The fourth is a space-filling extra.

As for the starships, I made sure they didn't fall victim to the 2d thinking of most sf ship design, like in Star Wars, etc. where they have all the guns and interesting things on one side of the craft, like a naval vessel! It makes no sense. So, the Hive Queen fleet ships are symmetrical on 6 sides, and the IF ships are symmetrical on 4 sides. They only have a front and a back, not a "deck" and a "hull".

The hero is supposed to be 11. My sister works with kids and assures me that this is what an eleven year old kid with military training would look like.

Edit: uploaded the original version with the smaller head that my sister likes. I hope he passes for an 11 year old...

Even though this was done years before the movie, they really did it close to your idea.

This pic of Ender has so many feels towards me it's brilliant! I feel so bad for him like omg, I mean his bleeding hand, his crying Its just so sad! 😩🐲😭

He passes as a kid... Thanks for drawing this. It really shows the stress of the simulations Ender had to deal with, plus the end test was a mind screw for him...Poor Ender. You really captured the essence of what they did to him, and the struggle against the Buggers.

Seriously wonderful. If only we could get a whole show like this. 2 hours cannot do the story justice.

This portrays the scene perfectly. I don't really remember him crying, but it's a nice touch. I love the ships designs. I think your idea was great. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense for alien ships to have the same design as our ships at home. This is a fantastic rendition of the most important part of a great novel.

Gahh! This picture makes me want to go back and read it again, but I don't own the book! *faints*

Wow, that's really amazing. :) Skillfully done and I love your depiction of Ender. The bandaging on his hand, his expression, his clothing--all expressing the same mood that is so accurate to the book. Also, Maezr and the other spectators are a great touch. I heart Ender. XD

"And after the Little Doctor finished the war, Ender, realizing his actions and their consequences, fainted into a coma." this happens after this particular scene.

I remember seeing this when it was first featured as a DD. Just thought I'd drop by again and say that this art inspired me to read the book, which I hadn't even heard about before!

The emotion here is what really sold it. The determination and the tears. The juxtaposition of a crying child and full-on war, as one unit. What can I say, I love dramatic works.
Xenjii Featured By Owner Jun 12, 2010
He most definitely passes for an 11 year old...I good rendition of Ender too. Great job :3

I recently read the novel myself and was very impressed. Your work illustrates the picture during the final chapter simply brilliantly.

first appropriate rendition of an ender expression I've seen in a while. very well done. I'm almost wary of reading the following books so as not to spoil the atmosphere of the first one--sequils never feel like the first.
