At the Grand Ball

Commission for the patient , this piece took a whopping 6 years to complete!

It wasn't the background and architectural mockup. That was the first bit I fixed.
It wasn't the 15 original character designs that had to be incorporated into the background, showing scenes and their vibrant personalities. That was settled and decided.


What locked me down for years on this one was STYLE. The commission came at a time my art style was shifting, and I was wavering back and forth, in starts and stops, on how to execute the look and coloring of the overall piece.
This piece has taken me through 2 breakups, a change of address, and 2 different day jobs. It's taken me through a drawing style crisis where I felt like I lost my handle on this piece and my own artistic development,  and career highs and lows.
But, finally, I took a look at it this year and I thought: I finally know how to finish this up into a single cohesive piece.

And it was finished!
